Infinity has no beginning and no end. As parents we do the same thing, day in and day out, with love mixed all through. My husband and I recently took a trip for our 30th wedding anniversary. We ran across a hometown stained glass shop. I love stained glass so we had t...

Ideas for Teaching Self Media Management--"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men," stated Frederick Douglass, a great orator, writer, social reformer, abolitionist and statesman, who escaped from slavery in Maryland in 1838. It is freedom from...

Why take Parenting classes? Or read Parenting books?--First, think of something you are just good at. How did this happen? Were you born that way? Does it run in your family? Did you always feel confident in this skill? You are good at this for possibly 3 reasons:

Positive yet Directive Parenting Practices--How many mothers of toddlers have decided "not to fight about food"? I think it is safe to say that every parent knows the struggle of getting their child to eat healthy food, with a healthy eating schedule. Pediatric health...

Intentional, Authoritative Parenting--I have always wanted to be a "nice" mother. Who likes conflict? But how do we apply "nice" to parenting? Is it nice to allow your child to be disrespectful to you? If they don't respect you, they may not learn to have healthy eatin...

Intentional, Authoritative Parenting--Some may be familiar with the terms "helicopter", "drill sergeant" and "consultant" parent designations. These come from the Love and Logic® philosophy, which was founded by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline, M.D. I am an independent fac...

Intentional, Authoritative Parenting—Our 3rd grandchild was born just 7 days ago.  She is precious, and her parents love her so much. Conscientious parents love their children, and it is worth considering... What does our love do? Does it help our children develop heal...

Beth Erickson

Family Life Educator and Coach

What worked for us and what I've learned over the years... Lasting dividends come when we work to make our family our greatest asset. I am a mother of 4 grown children and a grandmother of 4. My husband Jon and I have been married for 30 years and have been parents for over 29 years. What a ride it has been! I graduated in 1987 from Brigham Young University in Fashion Design, with an Extra Major Skill in Piano Performance. I have taught piano for over 20 years, including my own kids, and worked with kids in our church for many years. I have completed Family Life Coach training from BYU-Idaho and am very intrigued about this new field of Family Practice. Coaching has great potential for helping families. Contact me if you have an interest.

Beth is an independent facilitator for the "Parenting the Love and Logic Way"® curriculum

by Jim Fay, Charles Fay, Ph.D., and Foster W. Cline, M.D. of the Love and Logic Institute, Inc., in Golden, Colorado
